SOUTH WALES POTTERS WINTER EXHIBITION
at Monmouth Museum
Britain’s first -ever regional
pottery group is holding a special selling exhibition at Monmouth Museum to
help mark its 50th anniversary.
South Wales Potters, a group of
140 crafts people, has arranged with Monmouthshire County Council to hold an
exhibition featuring the work of more than 20 working potters.
The exhibition will open on
Saturday October 24th and runs through until January 2nd
next year. Admission is free and the museum is open daily.
South Wales Potters was formed in
1964 to satisfy the need for a forum in which potters could share and discuss
techniques and methods. In those days potters in any one area did not know each
other.
Fifty years later the society is
going strong, organising events for members and exhibitions for the public to
see the work of skilled makers, some of whom are of world renown.
I look forward to exhibiting alongside more than 20 other members of the South Wales Potters Group.
